Invitation to Orthodox Christian Lenten Sunday Services

In the Orthodox Church, the season of Great Lent marks a 40-day period of preparation leading up to Holy Week and Pascha (Easter), commemorating the Resurrection of Christ. Great Lent is observed as a time of repentance and spiritual renewal through prayer, confession, fasting, and acts of charity. We extend an invitation to join us in worship at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, located at 369 Green Avenue, East Meadow.

During Great Lent, we celebrate the more ancient form of the liturgy, known as The Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great, every Lenten Sunday at 9:30 AM (from March 24 to April 21 this year). Each Sunday of Great Lent is dedicated to a special theme, reflected in the New Testament readings, hymns, and sermon of the day. Following the Divine Liturgy, we gather for a coffee hour featuring Lenten foods. All services are conducted in English.

At Holy Trinity, we are a diverse community of Orthodox Christians from various backgrounds, united in our faith and commitment to worship God in the richness of the Church’s liturgical tradition. Our parish is deeply dedicated to serving others through charitable efforts. We welcome everyone seeking a community rooted in the ancient Christian Church, emphasizing Holy Scripture, Tradition, prayer life, and traditional Christian values.

The Divine Liturgy (Eucharist) is celebrated every Sunday and feast day at 9:30 AM (Hours at 9:00 AM). While only Orthodox Christians may partake in the Eucharist and sacraments according to ancient canons, all are welcome to receive a blessing. During Great Lent, we offer a vegan coffee hour following the Sunday Divine Liturgy. Vespers (evening prayer) are held every Saturday and on the eve of feast days at 6:00 PM. Services are also streamed online at https://www.facebook.com/htocem. The complete liturgical schedule can be found on our parish website calendar at www.htocem.org.
